Where it grows

Teak grows throughout India, Thailand, Indonesia, Java and is indigenous to Burma. It has been introduced into Malaysia, Borneo and the Philippines, tropical Africa and Central America.

Remarks

The heartwood is very resistant to preservative treatment and the sapwood is moderately resistant to treatment. A hard and heavy wood similar in colour and appearance to European oak. The most important hardwood for export.

Known also as difou and kankate (Zaire).

Where it grows

Ghana and from Senegal to Cameroon and Gabon.
